ReSoURCE Awarded the Waste Management Prize “Phönix”

During the Austrian Waste Management Conference in Vienna, ReSoURCE project has been recognized with the “Phönix” award 2024 (Abfallwirtschaftspreis 2024). The April 24th ceremony was attended by some 500 experts, policy makers, industry professionals, and academics.

From 58 submissions, a jury of experts selected a total of 6 finalists in three categories: Innovation, Communication and Best Project. Not only did ReSoURCE receive the main prize, but it also won the Innovation category. The Innovation award recognizes research projects, new concepts and developments that further develop the contribution of waste management to the circular economy.

The main prize “Phönix” is an initiative of the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). It recognizes practical and/or innovative or creative solutions and concepts of relevance to waste management that contribute to environmental protection, resource conservation and the sustainable development of waste management as part of the circular economy.

The prize was presented by Christian Holzer, Director General V of the BMK, and Martin Niederhuber, President of the ÖWAV. This recognition highlights the project´s commitment to developing innovative and more sustainable solutions for the recycling of spent refractories.
